Now that the snow has melted, the Emerson is ready to get a much-needed new roof on the building’s Annex. The Annex is home to Yoga Motion, the Emerson’s Frances Senska Pottery Studio, Health Works Institute and several studios for writers, painters and a filmmaker.
Since opening its doors in 1993, the Emerson has raised more than $1.1 million towards renovation and historic renovation of its 700-seat Crawford Theater, lobby and main building, which is used as a cultural center and studio space for more than forty working artists, non-profits, and creative local businesses.
Quality Roofing is managing the Annex roofing project, which will increase the insulation and improve the building’s energy efficiency.
The Emerson is currently fundraising to install a new roof and repair the masonry on the entire ninety-year-old brick building, designed by regionally-renowned architect Fred Wilson in neo-Gothic style. Donations to the Emerson’s historic renovation can be made here:
